Kubilay Bayram, of Queen Street, was charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive right in the 5 a.m. crash, police said.

Bayram was driving the BMW 135i north on Mill Plain Road near Ludlowe Road when he hit the pole, police said.

Witnesses said Bayram ran from the scene, heading towards the train station, police said.

His mother arrived at the scene and gave officers Bayram’s cell phone number to call, police said.

He was located on Sanford Street, where he claimed he had seen an officer who might be able to help him with the crash, police said.

Bayram refused medical treatment. He posted a $50 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 17.
