EASTON, Conn. — The Easton Police Department is investigating after two teenagers reported an odd encounter with the driver of a van Wednesday afternoon.
Two 15-year-old boys were walking toward home on Everett Road near Sherwood Road at about noon Wednesday when a van approached and the driver got out, Easton police said in a statement.
The driver, described as a 40-year-old white man with rotting teeth and smoking a cigar, asked the boys to help him get something out of his right eye, police said.
"The white male persisted in attempting to engage the juveniles to help him get something out of his eye," police said.
When the boys resisted and began to walk away, "The suspect became angry and made an obscene gesture to the juveniles," police said.
He then said, "You will regret this."
The suspect did not ask the boys to get into the van nor did he try to force them into the van, police said.
The man, who appeared to be the lone occupant of the van, was described as 6 feet tall with a medium build, and long white hair and scruffy facial hair, police said.
He was wearing a hat, dirty white T-shirt and jeans, police said.
The van was described as white, with red markings above the headlights and possibly a roof rack on top and an American flag painted on the left rear side, police said.
Any police departments with similar incidents or anyone with information is asked to call the Easton Police Department at 203-268-4111.
