Thomas Rattigan, 54, of Beaconview Drive, was charged with operating while under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane in the May 19 incident, police said.
Rattigan was driving north on Grasmere Avenue near the Home Depot shortly before 7 p.m. when he hit a road sign and struck a parked car, a fence and a guy-wire outside Pumpkin Preschool, police said.
He hit the wire with such force, it severed the top of the utility pole, police said.
At the time of the crash, Rattigan, who was sweating profusely, told officers he didn’t know how he got there, police said. He was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where his blood work showed he tested positive for cocaine, police said.
He posted a court-ordered $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 11.
