MONROE, Conn. -- A Monroe man was arrested Christmas Eve after police say he crashed his car into an electrical transformer while driving drunk, according to the Connecticut Post.
Monroe Police Capt. Michael Flick wrote in the accident report that Domingos Rafael, 21, crashed his Nissan Altima into a ground mounted transformer, suspending his car in the air, the newspaper reported.
While speaking with Rafael, Flick said officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, the paper added.
After failing a field sobriety test, and blowing twice the legal limit during testing, Domingos,was arrested, given a $500 bond and a Jan. 4 court appearance. He is facing charges of driving under the influence and failure to maintain a proper lane, the Connecticut Post reported.
