The Darien Police Department and Darien Fire Department responded to Five Mile River on a report of a dog in distress. The dog had made its way to a small patch of grass but had become stranded when the tide came in, police said.

The Darien Fire Department quickly donned cold water gear and used a nearby dinghy to reach the dog. It was then taken to shore and reunited with its owner.

The dog was not injured in the incident.
