Omar Muqbil, 18, of 43 Flat Rock Drive was charged with assault on a police officer, interfering, assault on an EMT, breach of peace, disorderly conduct and creating a public disturbance. He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 13.

Police said that Muqbil had been drinking and left his home to walk down the street. He became argumentative and combative and encountered a police officer. He wouldn’t comply with the officer’s directions, became belligerent and at times would bite and hit himself, police said. He had to be restrained and at that time spit on the EMT, according to police.
