Busy Day: Monroe Firefighters Tackle Four Alarms In Three Hours

MONROE, Conn. — Wednesday, April 19, marked a busy afternoon for firefighters from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, the Stepney Fire Department and Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company.

Firefighters responded to four alarms in three hours, according to a Facebook post. 

"It all started with a reported structure fire on Blue Hills Road" at 3:25 p.m., where units found a working basement fire. 

White Hills Fire Company from Shelton, Huntington Fire Co. 3, Monroe Police Department and Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service were also on the scene. 

The Monroe fire marshal is investigating the fire. 

Two hours later, units responded to a business on Monroe Turnpike for an indoor odor investigation and found a malfunctioning HVAC unit. 

This was quickly followed by two motor vehicle accidents at 6:01 p.m. and 6:21 p.m. on Monroe Turnpike.
