Bridgeport Man Charged With Raping Woman At Stratford Motel

STRATFORD, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man was charged with raping a woman in a Stratford motel on Tuesday, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Bridgeport woman told police that she was staying at the Stratford Motor Inn and was watching television when an acquaintance, 21-year-old Joseph Safilo, showed up uninvited, according to the Connecticut Post. She let him in and they watched some television together, but when she told him to leave he refused, the Connecticut Post reported.

Police told the Connecticut Post that Safilo pulled her clothes off and raped her. Afterwards he apologized and said he couldn't control himself, but when police asked him about it he denied it, the Connecticut Post reported. Police were able to recover his DNA from a rape kit, according to the Connecticut Post.

Safilo was charged with first-degree sexual assault and held o a $150,000 bond, according to the Connecticut Post.
