Bridgeport Man Charged In Rash Of Commercial Break-Ins In Shelton

SHELTON, Conn. — An incarcerated Bridgeport man was arrested Monday and charged in connection with three Shelton commercial burglaries in 2016, police said.

Steven Carloto, 48, who was in court for similar charges, was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, criminal mischief and larceny for break-ins at Chinatown Restaurant and Shanghai Gardens Restaurant in April 2016, police said.

Carloto had been arrested by Shelton police for breaking into Rita’s Italian Ice during the fall of 2016, police said.

Several area agencies were investigating a rash of commercial burglaries at the time and developed Carloto as a suspect.

He was placed on $60,000 bond for the three incidents.
