Bridgeport Bus Driver Charged With Sexually Assaulting 11-Year-Old Girl

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport bus driver was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl earlier this year, according to state police.

On Feb. 28, State Police Detectives with Western District Major Crime launched an investigation after receiving a complaint of sexual contact between the girl and a bus driver for Connecticut Transportation Solutions. According to its website, Connecticut Transportation Solutions specializes in transportation for people with special needs.

The girl reported that while being transported on the bus, the driver, 39-year-old Luis Cruz, touched her inappropriately, according to state police.

After a lengthy investigation, detectives were able to receive an arrest warrant for Cruz. He turned himself in to state police at Troop G - Bridgeport at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21.

Cruz was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, and illegal sexual contact of a victim less than 16. he was held on $20,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
