Avoid Grinches Snatching Holiday Package Deliveries From Trumbull Porches

TRUMBULL, Conn. -- As the holidays approach and people are ordering more items to their homes, thieves looking to snatch unattended packages from porches will find plenty of opportunities.

The Trumbull Police Department is offering tips on how residents can avoid thefts and safeguard their holiday package deliveries.

If you're not going to be home when the package arrives, consider using an alternate delivery destination, where you know someone can claim your package. These alternatives can include a neighbor, family member or friend's home, or your office or workplace.

You can also ask a courier to hold the package at their facility for you to pick up. Request that the package has a signature required for delivery, or take advantage of delivery notification or tracking services offered by most couriers.

If you're going out shopping, remember to lock your car and hide all your valuables.
