On Dec. 9, a Shelton man was found dead in his home from an apparent overdose of heroin he had bought earlier in the day in Bridgeport, Shelton police said.

The dead man’s relative, 33-year-old Justin Kevalis, was in the house during the investigation, police said. It was later determined that Kevalis had purchased the heroin with the victim and had attempted to cover up the sale, police said.

Kevalis was arrested Thursday and charged with conspiracy to commit illegal sale of narcotics and interfering with an officer.

During the arrest, officers found heroin in Kevalis’s possession and charged him with illegal possession of heroin, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on March 16, police said.
