Emilio Davila, 22, of New Haven was charged with reckless driving, three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, engaging police in pursuit, operating a motor vehicle without a license and third-degree larceny. A Trumbull officer arrested Davila to wrap up the pursuit.

The incident started around 12:30 a.m. Monday when a State Police trooper clocked a Honda Civic going 90 mph near Exit 41 on southbound Interstate 95 in Milford. According to the police report, the state trooper attempted to stop the driver near Exit 40. The trooper turned on emergency lights and sirens, but the driver failed to stop, police said. The pursuit on southbound I-95 reached speeds of 106 mph, police said.

Police say Davila exited I-95 at Exit 38, the connector in Milford, and then headed south on the Merritt Parkway at a high rate of speed, police said. An officer tried to force Davila's car to halt with "stop sticks" at Exit 49 of the Merritt, but the driver continued on Main Street in Trumbull and then onto Oxford Street in Bridgeport, state police said.

The pursuit finally ended at a dead end on Oxford Street, police said. Police say Davila admitted to stealing the car on Thursday in Middletown.

He was held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
