Ronald P. 'Pa' Butz Sr., Trumbull Mechanic, Volunteer Firefighter

TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Ronald P. Butz, Sr., "Pa," of Trumbull, a tow truck operator and mechanic for Family Garage, died on Saturday, Aug. 6He was 66.

He was the husband of Martha Petrus Butz. 

He was born in Bridgeport on Feb. 27, 1950, to George C. and Emma J. Bassett Butz. 

Since 1966, Butz was a member of the Nichols Fire Department, where he was captain and chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. He was a member of BARF, SPAAMFAA, a past president and founding member of SCAFAC, Engine 260, a member of the Board of Trustees for Fairfield County Fire Chiefs Emergency Plan, a member of the CT Fire Equipment Mechanics Association, The Falcon Club of America and Tow Truck Drivers of CT. 

In addition to his wife Martha Petrus Butz, survivors include his daughter, Christine Tote and her husband, Kevin of Stratford, his son, Ronald Butz, Jr. and his wife, Kimberly of Trumbull, and his grandchildren, Spenser, Kiley, Matilda and Phineas Tote, two brothers, George W. Butz and his wife, Helen of Charlton, Mass., and John R. Butz and his wife Robin of Stratford, and his sister, Judy Bierwirth of West Haven.

Butz was predeceased by a grandson, Mason Tote, brothers, David C. Butz and Jerry T. Butz and his wife Carol, and brother in law, Donald Bierwirth. 

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, in Trumbull and at noon in the Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Road, in Trumbull. 

Interment will follow in the Nichols Village Cemetery in Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 3 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Ronald P.
