WestConn Student Recounts Terror Of Bombings At Brussels Airport

BROOKFIELD, Conn. — A college student from Brookfield said she was experiencing terrifying flashbacks after she witnessed two bomb explosions in the terror attack this week at the airport in Brussels, News12 Connecticut reported. 

Megan Driscoll of Brookfield is a junior at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. She was picking up a friend at the Brussels airport when a pair of terrorist bombs  exploded.

Megan Driscoll is a junior at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury who is studying abroad in Belgium this semester, according to News12.  

Here is her account from her Instagram social media account on what she experienced Tuesday:

"Today I went to the Brussels Airport, like many other people, to pick up my friend @brianamorrissey (who is safe). after being there for ten minutes 2 bombs went off above me. I made it home safe, but some people did not. We all must come together in this time of need because love will win! #brussels."

At least 31 people were killed and 270 wounded in Tuesday's terror attacks by ISIS in the airport and subway in Brussels. A brother and sister who are Dutch citizens but live in New York City were among those killed. A family member heard the bombs go off at the Brussels Airport while speaking on the phone to Alexander and Sascha Pinczowski before the call ended, according to the New York Daily News. They were returning to New York from the Netherlands, where they were visiting relatives, according to CBS News. Alexander was engaged to the daughter of former U.S. ambassador to Denmark James Cain.

Among the injured was a business executive from Ridgefield, who was traveling for work at the time of the terror attacks. The man, whose identity was not revealed by First Selectman Rudy Marconi, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Suffering serious injuries was Sebastien Bellin, a former member of the men's basketball team at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
