TRUMBULL, Conn. -- A 25-year-old woman will spend 33 months in prison for driving drunk and running into a Department of Transportation worker, throwing him 10 feet and leaving him with permanent brain damage, according to the Connecticut Post.

The accident occurred April 26, 2015, on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford as 56-year-old Kevin Holloran was helping to clean up an accident scene, the Post said.

Garcia, who had a blood alcohol content one-and-half times the legal limit, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and first-degree assault, the Post said.

She told the judge during her sentencing in Bridgeport that she prayed for Holloran every night, hoping a miracle would happen to make him well, added the Connecticut Post.
