Trees Cut Down For Road Project, Monroe Fire Department Reports

MONROE, Conn. -- Trees have been taken down at Fireman's Field to pave the way for a road construction project at the Route 110-111 intersection, according to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.

The Monroe Public Works Departments handled the tree take-down the initial phase of the project, while the state Department of Transportation will create a roundabout and perform other road modifications at the location and on Hurd Avenue, said the announcement.

The DOT is expected to replant some barrier trees upon completion of the road project, according to the Fire Department.
