The Connecticut Department of Transportation is undertaking a project to replace signs along the Merritt from the Connecticut/New York border in Greenwich to just beyond the Stratford/Milford town line.
The DOT is developing plans for the sign replacement, with design plans to be available in June. The project is estimated to cost about $6 million.
The project will consist of removing existing overhead, side-mounted, post-mounted and variable message signs, and installing new overhead, side-mounted, post-mounted and variable message signs on existing sign supports and new sign supports, the DOT said.
Ramp signs will also be included for removal and replacement on new sign supports.
The DOT said that in the interest of keeping residents informed of its projects, an informational meeting will be conducted on the project if there is adequate interest. At this point, however, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary, DOT said.
No dates were released for when the project would be done.
