Shelton Woman Appointed To Post With Norwalk's Substance Abuse Coalition

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk's Human Services Council has appointed Giovanna Pisani as the director of the Mid-Fairfield Substance Abuse Coalition, effective Feb. 1.

Pisani will be the Regional Action Council leader representing the four towns of Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton, and will focus on prevention education and wellness for youth.

She has worked in the field of social services for the last 10 years, with several private and public agencies, including the Department of Social Services. More recently, Pisani worked with Chapel Haven, in New Haven, as a life skills instructor.

She has also had several internships, including the Bridgeport Public School system and various assisted living facilities. Her experience includes agency coordination, identifying and assessing client eligibility for critical services and teaching problem-solving skills.

"Giovanna will be a great addition to our team," said Anthony DiLauro, executive director of the Human Services Council. "I am certain she will be successful at coalition-building and creating awareness of the critical role our agency plays in the prevention arena."

Pisani has a master's degree in social work, a bachelor's of science in social work and an associate degree in science in criminal justice. She lives in Shelton.
