MONROE, Conn. -- The Town of Monroe has been ordered to pay $120,000 to the owner of a local paving company who fell on a broken sidewalk in August of 2012, according to the Connecticut Post.

Jack Fernandes, 45, was leaving the Monroe Police Department on Fan Hill Road when he slipped on a depression, fell forward and was stuck in the rain for 20 minutes awaiting an ambulance, according to the Connecticut Post.

It was uncovered during the trial that the city knew about the sidewalk issue for four years and had not chosen to resolve it, according to the Connecticut Post.
