MONROE, Conn. -- Monroe firefighters and police were called to a single-story home on Williamsburg Drive at 6:50 p.m. Thursday after a large tree fell through the roof of the home.
One occupant was home but was not injured. Firefighters worked to remove her dog, which also was not injured.
One of the tree limbs penetrated the roof and went right through the kitchen ceiling and floor into the basement.
Firefighters secured the utilities to reduce the risk of fire, and the Building Department was called to inspect the home.
The house sustained significant damage, and contractors were seen working to remove the tree on Friday afternoon.
