EASTON, Conn. — An Easton police commissioner who runs a store in Stratford entered a not guilty plea in federal court to the charge that he used the telephone as part of a larger prescription drug ring, according to the Easton Courier.
Raymond J. Martin, who operates Martin's News and Smoke in Stratford, was arrested in July, along with 11 other people after a federal investigation into an illegal steroid and prescription drug distribution ring, the Easton Courier reported.
After the arrests, federal officials said they seized hundreds of vials of steroids, 600 grams of raw testosterone powder, more than 1,000 oxycodone pills, 350 grams of powder cocaine and four long guns, the Easton Courier reported.
Martin, who entered his plea March 2, also agreed to have his case proceed with a preliminary hearing rather than a grand jury indictment, the Easton Courier reported. He has taken a leave of absence as police commissioner, the Easton Courier reported,
