Harrison Mauldin, who played lacrosse at Ridgefield High and at Bard College, was diagnosed in March with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, a rare form of leukemia.

Mauldin, 22, started chemotherapy in spring. "The next 12 months will be long and difficult for the entire Mauldin Family, but they remain hopeful and positive and are up for the fight," said a YouCaring page set up by friends to help.

"We wanted to create a way for family and friends to help them cover costs they will incur from the treatments, medical expenses, and other associated financial burdens," the page said. "Our hope is that we can cover some of the expenses so that they can focus on Harrison's treatment and each other."

Funds can also be sent to Fairfield County Bank-attention Vincent Perry, 150 Danbury Road, Ridgefield, CT 06877. Checks can be made payable to The Mauldin Medical Expense Fund.

There is also a fundraising event Wednesday to help. On that day, Planet Pizza in Ridgefield will donate 10 percent of its proceeds on Wednesday to support Mauldin.
