The 2nd annual Sip, Sample & Shop Local is happening Tuesday Dec. 6 at the Nichols Improvement Association (NIA) from 6-9 p.m. There will be shopping, food and raffle prizes.

Participants are asked to bring in five (or more) canned goods to receive a raffle ticket. Donations of food and cash will benefit the Trumbull Food Pantry.

"The idea came about last year as we were looking for a location to hold an event to support local business vendors," said Emily Voss, Senior Director of the Beautycounter. "The NIA house is the perfect venue as it is warm and inviting, centrally located and known amongst the historic community of Nichols."

The NIA is a nonprofit volunteer organization devoted to preserving the heritage of the Nichols community and sponsors numerous events throughout the year.

"We hope that the members of the community will come together for a fun night of seeing their neighbors and support some of the local business people in the neighborhood as they purchase gifts for the holiday season," Voss said.

There is no charge to attend the event. Cash, credit, checks are accepted for purchases.

"We will have something for everyone -- books, clean beauty, gift sets, beautiful jewelry, pottery, and on-trend fashion. Grab some friends and come get your holiday shopping taken care of," Voss said.

Anyone who can't make the event can still shop or even host their own sip and shop event by contacting emily_c_voss@yahoo.com or rebecca.beautycounter@outlook.com.

For more information, see the Holiday Sip & Shop Facebook page or the NIA website.

The NIA is located at 1773 Huntington Tpke., Trumbull. There is parking available on-site.
