Puppy Love: Putnam Service Dogs Welcomes Class From Danbury, Ridgefield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Two puppies rescued from Fairfield County shelters are now at their new home at Putnam Service Dogs in Brewster.

Meet Amy, Anna and Allie as they grow and train to become service dogs.

Allie is kind, sweet, and ready to be trained to become a service dog for those with physical disabilities, other than blindness.

The class for Volunteer Puppy Raisers begins this month. The puppies all came from High Kill Shelters in the South and were adopted by Putnam Service Dogs from local rescue groups.

Here are their stats: 

  • Anna: Yellow Lab Mix. About 12 weeks old. She was rescued by a rescue group in Puerto Rico and flown up by PawSafe, a rescue group in Danbury, Conn.
  • Amy: Shepherd Mix. About 9 weeks old. She was rescued by a rescue group in Alabama and flown up by Happy Life, a rescue group in Patterson.
  • Allie: Black Lab Mix. About 12 weeks old. She was rescued by a rescue group in Mississippi and flow up by ROAR, a rescue operation for animals in Ridgefield, Conn.
