The Christmas Fair serves as a fundraiser for the Monroe Historical Society. All of the items are donated for the event.

"This is a great fundraiser for us," said Madeline Marshall, a historical society volunteer. "And we like to utilize our historical buildings — this is our One Room Schoolhouse - and everything is run by volunteers.

"We hope the smell of apple cider (given away with cookies at the fair) gets everyone in the mood for Christmas. ... This is an annual tradition for us."

The Christmas Fair continues next weekend at the following times:

  • Friday, Dec. 4, 3 to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 6, noon to 4 p.m.
