Ross plays Rainbow Johnson in ABC's "Black-ish" and started her speech Sunday, Jan. 8 by saying her win was for "all the women -- women of color and colorful people whose stories, ideas, thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important.

"I want you to know that I see you; we see you," she told the crowd, adding that she hopes "Black-ish" will "continue to expand the way "we are seen and known and to show the magic and the beauty and the sameness of story and stories that are outside of where the industry always looks."

The 44-year-old  -- the first black woman to win for TV Actress in over 30 years -- added that it was her first time at the award show and "it's a nice room."
