Well, now’s your chance to bone up on a little nautical knowledge at “Fayerweather Lighthouse: Its Past, Present and Future,” a free talk at 7 p.m. April 18 at Burroughs Community Center on Fairfield Avenue.

Phil Blagys, history program chair for the Black Rock Community Council, will explore the important role the light played in the development of Black Rock during the 19th and early 20th centuries, including a look at the life of legendary lighthouse keeper Kate Moore.

He will also detail recent preservation initiatives on this historic landmark.
