“The weather forecast looks bad. This is a tough decision, but out of concern for the attendees, vendors, dogs and the park itself, we feel this is the right decision,” said Matthew Mandell, Executive Director of the WWCC. “We urge everyone to come out next week and have a great time. We will work extra hard to ensure the weather is good.”
The National Weather Service has called for 90% chance of rain and issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and is warning about small hail, “there is a potential for strong to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding on Sunday... a few thunderstorms could also become severe...with damaging wind gusts of at least 58 mph.” Winslow Park is an open field where cover is limited and harm to humans, dogs and the park must be taken into account.
The Chamber looks forward to seeing everyone next Sunday June 12th 10am - 4pm at the First Annual Westport Dog Festival.
