The event will feature master falconer Brian Bradley conducting a one-hour demonstration of outdoor flight by falcons, hawks and other predatory birds beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The show, “Skyhunters in Flight,” is one of many activities that will be featured at the 16-acre tidal estuary at 34 Sammis St. in Rowayton.

Other events will include guided tours of the preserve, as well as face-painting and games, including a scavenger hunt.

A “touch tank” assembled by the Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk and filled with sea creatures is also scheduled to be on site.

Singer-songwriter Dre Towey, winner of three Parents’ Choice Awards, and Infinite Roots, masters of African drum and dance instruction led by Henry Jones, will provide entertainment.

Refreshments will also be available.

Assisted by the sponsorship of Fairfield County Bank, Discovery Day is free and open to the public.

A $10 donation is suggested to help fund the NLT’s environmental work.

The preserve is one of 28 properties, all of special importance to the natural life cycle in Norwalk, under the stewardship of NLT.

In all, the organization oversees the care of nearly 100 acres.
