WESTPORT, Conn. -- It's May and that means the opening of the new Layla's Falafel in Westport is -- fingers crossed -- less than a month away.

J.P. Sakakini, the son of owners (and Trumbull residents) Dino and Layla Sakakini, said the new location -- the company's fifth -- will open at the end of May, early June the latest.

J.P. said his parents  -- his dad hails from Jerusalem, his mom from Lebanon -- had been looking to expand to this area for a while. "We have a lot of customers in Fairfield that are from Westport," he said.

The eatery features Middle Eastern cuisine "made with love." He said all of the recipes come from his family's kitchen -- think his grandmother's spinach pie and his mom's baklava. All food is made fresh in-house.

Westport's location will be smaller than the others and primarily deal with take-out and catering.  It is at 1537 Post Road East.
