Opening The Archive: Vinegar Syndrome Attracts Fans To New Bridgeport Store

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Vinegar Syndrome, an online outfit known for restoring and distributing vintage films, is holding the soft opening of The Archive, its new experimental store in Bridgeport. 

The Archive, a new store located at 118 Congress St. in Bridgeport, will be open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The new store is "filled with all the things we enjoy: movies, music, posters … and of course … Vinegar Syndrome!," a Facebook post said. "Come check it out." The sign says "Music, Movies, More."

The Archive, located at 118 Congress St., will be open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.   

The Vinegar Syndrome has a catalog of hundreds of feature films, produced primarily between the 1960s and 1980s.

The company's work has resulted in the digital restoration and preservation of over 500 feature films, more than any other independent studio. 

What does Vinegar Syndrome mean? The term describes a chemical reaction that deteriorates motion picture film over time.
