REDDING, Conn. — The Redding Roadhouse, a landmark eatery on Route 53 in town, has closed its doors again.

"After a very long few years, we have decided it's best to regroup and find a candidate most excited to keeping the charm alive at The Roadhouse," the owners said in a Facebook post Monday. "We thank you for your continued support, and your patronage through the years."

The popular eatery had closed down back in May 2014, before reopening under new ownership in October 2014.

The restaurant was known for its burgers, brunch and steak — as well as its live music.

Fans have posted sad goodbyes to the restaurant, which was a favorite with Redding residents, but also drew many patrons from Bethel, Danbury, Ridgefield, Easton, Weston, Wilton, Norwalk and Westport and beyond.

"The Roadhouse was and is special place in my heart," one patron said in a Facebook post.

Another said, "I worked at the roadhouse for Mac 22 years ago, met my husband and numerous, lifelong friends there. Such wonderful memories, hoping whoever buys it brings back the same charm."

One Facebook post summed up the feelings of many: "Bummer. Loved the place."

Jordan Wright, who had operated the Redding Roadhouse, a family business, died last November of bone cancer at age 40.

The restaurant had been around for about three decades. The building is located at 406 Redding Road, Route 53, near Hill Road.
