The new restaurant went up in just a matter of months on the site of a closed car dealership (a victim of the great recession) next to Stop & Shop.

Texas Roadhouse is famous for its hand-cut steaks, ribs, combos, chicken specialities, country dinners, dockside favorites, burgers and sandwiches as well as starters, salads and and sides. There is also a kids menu. Click here for the full menu.

The hours are: 3:30 to 10 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; 3:30  to11 p.m. Fridays; 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays. For call-ahead seating, dial 203-730-9176.

For those with a smaller appetite or dining on a budget, Texas Roadhouse offers and Early Dine menu (click here) for $9.99 until 6 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays.

Next to the Texas Roadhouse, construction is finishing up on the new offices of Aspen Dental and American Family Care's Urgent Care medical center as well as a T-Mobile store.

Just beyond that, on the same site, Danbury's first Popeyes is going up fast. The Louisiana-style eatery is known for its fried chicken and Cajun-style fast food.

No opening date is set for Popeyes just yet, but it will likely be serving up its signature fried chicken, butterfly shrimp and fluffy Southern biscuits by the end of summer or early autumn.
