The goal of Curbside Compost, their one-year-old Ridgefield company, is to support the community and the environment by increasing recycling in Fairfield County and providing everyone an opportunity to compost.
Among the couple's biggest gains: buy-in from the businesses at the Marketplace at Copps Hill, specifically 109 Cheese & Wine and Swoon Gluten Free Bakery.
"By simply separating food waste they can now compost rather than rely solely on traditional garbage disposal," said Nick.
Compost, he explained, is organic material that has been decomposed and is recycled for use as fertilizer and planting material.
His goal is to get more businesses at the Marketplace on board this fall.
"Curbside Compost continues to make efforts in reaching out to schools, supermarkets, recycling centers, residents -- everyone," he said.
"We have solutions for anyone who has the desire to have their food scraps composted."
Curbside Compost also provides waste minimization services at events by maximizing recycling and composting and minimizing waste sent to incinerators. More information can be found at www.CurbCompost.org.
